What grieves the Holy Spirit?

SELF-SERVICE TO GOD & GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT

Here is the response to one of the feedbacks received on yesterday's post on PRICELESS TRUTH👇

"Aside sin, the Holy Spirit is greatly grieved when we engage divine labour and service based on our inclinations."

I decided to share this here also, feeling it could be instructive and helpful.

 Feedbacks:

One of the feedbacks reads, "...please shed more light..." another wrote, "I can't understand..."

Thank beloved!

We see in scripture, "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God..." (Ephesians  4:30). The Bible instructs us against grieving the Holy Spirit and what many would like to know is, what grieves the Spirit of God or in what way can someone grieve the Holy Spirit?

Basically, we understand that whatever offends God, ultimately grieves His Spirit. Sin offends God, hence when we who are God's children with His indwelling Spirit falls into the devil's trap of sinning, the Holy Spirit is so grieved. With this, I believe you will agree with me that when the  believer sins the Holy Spirit is greatly grieved.

Now, let's get further. It will be incomplete and unprofitable for the believer to hold on to the above alone, thinking that that's what only grieves the Holy Spirit; it is misleading and capable of hindering one on the path of spiritual progress. However, amidst the several manifestations of the flesh and the self life that grieves and quenches the Spirit, is the act of engaging in the work of God with our natural life excluding the consent and involvement of the Holy Spirit.

As believers, we need to come to the understanding that nothing profitable in divine labour and service can be achieved without the involvement of the Holy Spirit. He is the custodian and source of the energy, power and wisdom with which any service to God on the earth can be considered acceptable to God.

I like you to meditate on this from the scripture, "...the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my[Jesus] name, he shall teach you all things, and...he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak...He shall glorify me[Jesus]: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you" (John  14:26; 16:13,14).

Serving God and labouring for the Kingdom as Christ did during is earthly walk will never be acceptable or productive without co-labouring with the Holy Spirit. Hence, when we attempt to work for God based on our self will and personal  inclination without consulting, submitting and depending on the Holy Spirit we are grieving Him more deeply.

Therefore, as believers we must persevere in prayer that we may see clearly our own pitiful condition and understand the indwelling, workings, and demands of the Holy Spirit. We also need to know the mystery and reality of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us that we may honor His sacred and holy presence and be careful not to grieve Him. Again, we must come to the vivid understanding that, aside from sin, what grieves the Holy Spirit the most is when we engage divine labour and service based on our inclinations and self life.

I hope this satisfy the demand of your heart in this regards.

Remain in His Grace and be assured of my love!

Thank you!
