Righteousness: A Divine Perspective

WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS?

"Righteousness is standing before God with approachable peace and standing before the devil without fear"

Having received a demand for "more explanation" on the above

I appreciate your demand for further explanations, kindly read 👇

We often take it literally that being righteous is to do this right. However, it is more than that in the light of walking with God. God is righteous and to walk with Him we must be made righteous by His son Jesus.

Let take a look at 2 Corinthians  5:21, it reads, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." Our righteousness is of Christ and not of the flesh. We may purse  earthly righteousness and not be recognized in the courts of God as been righteous. Scriptures says, "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew  5:20). Our pursuit for  righteousness should not be that which seeks to satisfy the expectations of men or the world about religion, rather it should be in a pursuit to please God.

That said, a son who pleases his father in all things and has no secret in his sleeves will not be afraid of appearing before his father. At the same time he will be confident enough to face his adversaries and his father's enemy (the devil) without fear. He his always sure of his father's backing and defence.

Hence, our gracious ability to please the Lord and seek his face continually draws upon us the providence of righteousness He made available to us when He gave up sinless Christ to suffer the consequences of sin through death.

The point to hold however is, as long as you purse God's righteousness and not self-righteousness, you have a natural courage to stand before God with peaceful assurance as His son, to enjoy all the benefit of divine sonship and to stand against the devil in rebuke without fear or intimidation.

I hope this is helpful?
