KEEP IT
It was a cool but ruinous evening, scarcely have we enjoyed the freshness of the free gift of air in our residence, we had of a fire outbreak in a neighbouring institution. The news without delay has gone round town, students and staff of the institution got on their ways to rescue the situation. In the meanwhile, I noticed an elderly man sobbing and been consoled by some others. My inquisitiveness stirred my investigation, I got to know he was one of the teachers in the institution whose office, said to be containing most of his academic merits and probably his certificates, had been engulfed in the burning fire. While others with zeal tried to break into some office spaces to rescue documents and other office equipments, I felt his pain and also thought of how papers could cause tears from an elder, but I discovered, papers differs and this will determine the measure of importance attached to it. What an unpalatable experience!
Sure you know what certificates could mean to its owners, some refer to it has their life and identity, other calls it their source of wealth and livelihood, I may describe it as the owners treasure and evidence or proof of profession. Maybe the importance attached to such documents as made it considered a superior type of paper that should be kept with all sense of responsibility. We need not be told that such treasures be well kept against damage and ruin. Beloved, do you know, God is also interested in you keeping crucial aspects of your life and specifically your HEART?
Proverbs 4:23 says "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Here, we see the importance attached to our HEART in scripture, it is considered as the origin and home of our perceptions, beliefs and attitudes to life in general "...for out of it are the issues of life". Therefore, for the heart to be kept, we must not give room to impure, lustful and sinful thoughts because when these vices are entertained in our hearts, it get us corrupted and polluted. Little wonder, the scripture asserts, "...for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." (Matthew 22:34) When our heart is diligently kept, we can be sure of the good and gracious riches that our life will produce at all times.
Friend, are you sometimes dissatisfied with your reaction and behaviour to situations, do you feel the heaviness of impurity in your HEART, do you nurse evil imaginations and also find yourself doing the same? All you need is a cleansed heart and a diligent watch on your HEART from all sinful and negative suggestions and influences.
Keep your HEART diligently.
