RENEWING THE MIND 1
A middle aged woman got amazed by the swift and 'magical' functions of an internet enabled phone, she would not waste further time in getting hers. She raised funds and purchased one for herself. Usually, when such devices are brought, network providers make some free-to-web services available for its user. Funny enough, this woman enjoyed the free internet services on her phone for some weeks; perhaps, she never thought her new device came with a new obligation to re-new her data at intervals. It was not until the device rejected her free access to the world web, she discovered that surfing the web was not actually free without a daily, weekly or monthly data renewal. In the same way, a car owner would not only settle for the cost of buying the said vehicle but will bear in mind the attached expenses of regular fueling, renewing of vehicle particulars and of course, its maintenances.
Beloved, before talking about re-newing, you must have something you intend to renew and keep active first. It is after you have a new object or whatever, that you can think of renewing, reloading or maintaining it. "...the renewing of...mind" as Romans 12:2 puts it, will only be possible after a new mind and heart has been attained in Christ.
The new mind is a characteristics of a new man, who actually has been made a new creature in Christ Jesus; "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:12). You can become a new man with a new mind when you surrender you life to Jesus and choose to walk and work in His ways; this is only how you can start the journey of a new life in Christ. I appeal to you, if you have not commenced, start the journey now, there can never be a journey you have ever experienced on earth that is as rewarding as this in making you a beneficiary of God's inexhaustible resources here on earth and procuring you a place in the Heavenly City up there when all our current earthly wants and runs in vanities are over.
Dear friend, to further consolidate our newness in Christ is to dump, forsake and reject out past or present evil and sinful ways of life; then, our old life experiences a change from a sinning old life to a graceful new life. You see, all things about your personality then becomes new and you experience the spirit's welcome into God's abundant Grace and spiritual family. What you will be left with is to remain unrepentant in your decision of a new life, constantly and continuously renewing your mind to keep your new life and relationship intact with God.
Don't forget, Romans 12:2 clearly states your personal commitment to keeping yourself in the new life experience, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove which is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God".
There is always a new before the renewing, for without the new, there is nothing to renew. Pursue and attain a new life in Christ, then the renewing begins...
