BE OF GOOD CHEER!
Man's happiness and joy have been greatly threatened. Several conditions have drawn people to the realms of sadness and sorrow. Naturally speaking, you may not expect someone passing through a teething health or spiritual challenge to be elated; neither will someone who just suffered a terrible disappointment or heart break nor loss of a beloved one to be cheerful. However, these are daily occurrences in our societies we may not be able to avoid.
I like to show something I believe will interest you, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33).
"...be of good cheer". Being of good cheer is to be happy, enthusiastic and filled with joy always. It could also mean to throw your fears, worries and anxieties to the wind trusting the faithfulness of Him (God) who has promised.
Dear friend, you need to be happy regardless of whatever conditions you are facing. We must gracefully enter God's covenant of happiness and joy. "...be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
Perhaps you have not noticed, any time "be of good cheer... " appears in scripture an assurance of victory follows. Let's consider some of these from God's Word;
"And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee" (Matthew 9:2). Have you confessed your sins in all sincerity to God with a gracious determination to forsake them permanently? "...be of good cheer", He has forgiven and accepted you.
"But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid" (Matthew 14:27). Do you get terrified at the minutest challenge that confronts you? Let me tell you, even if it is a great challenge. "...be of good cheer", He is with you, don't be terrified.
You need to pay attention to this one, "And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me." (Acts 27:22,25). Hear this! Does it appear the cold hands of death is beckoning at you or someone precious to you? It only appears but not so! "...be of good cheer" and believe the Lord, He is Life Himself and "and your life is hid with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:3).
You shall not die, neither shall there be any loss of life in your house in Jesus' mighty name!
Proverbs 15:13 reads "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken". You see, Joy is the cruise of a cheerful spirit. When you focus and embrace the joyful side of your challenges- JESUS AND HIS WORD in faith, your divine covenant of joy get activated and it delivers the remedy to your predicaments and pains.
There is a Covenant of Joy not just in Heaven but for God's Children on earth. Plug into it by FAITH and experience impregnable JOY for the rest of your life.
