YOUR FAITH FILTERS YOUR FEAR!

FAITH FILTERS FEAR

Social unrest these days are not rare, but for God's mercies, protection and preservation over us all. Sharing this with you, I believe will arose your faith against the clouds of fear tormenting your mind.

Popular and loved for her happy, joyful and cheerful spirit, people often calls her "Mama-Joy". She appears to be in her early sixties and lives in a slum area of her community. The area often experience social disturbances of terrorisation.

A particular occasions many residents of the area will not forget so easily was that of January the 4th of that year at about 11:45pm. It was indeed a cold night under the harmattan regime.

Resident of the area suddenly began to hear sounds of guns

hots in rapid succession, bombing and shouting of "Escape! Escape!! Escape ooo..., they are here again...".πŸ˜ˆπŸ‘ΏπŸ™†πŸ™†

In the face of the dangerous social unrest, many people ran out of their homes seeking safety not minding the danger of the night time.πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

While this was on, a group of people including her neighbour discovered that Mama-Joy was missing, this kept them worried and disturbed, hoping she has not been captured are injured by the bandits and hoodlums.

About the next morning, when the social confusion was calmed, without retuning to their homes, this 'good' neighbours and friends went almost everywhere in search of this woman- Mama-Joy.

After a tiring search expedition, they returned home and met the 'missing' Mama-Joy sitting gently awaiting their return.

Seeing her, their worries, fears and tiredness turned to amazement. They were so surprised and also shocked. They could not hide their feelings and thoughts as they confronted her with several questions agitating their minds, all at the same time; "Where have you been? "Where did you hid yourself?" "How did you return home?" "Hope you were not hurt shaaa?"... The questions were coming almost endlessly.

"Calm down, please relax, am very fine" she responded, "I have always been home, I can't remember telling you I would be visiting a friend" (she quite understood the background of their questions, since they often ran together in search for safety in previous similar occurrences).

In her explanation, she claimed to be quite fearful just like everyone when the whole disruption, running and hiding for safety thing started the previous night, but suddenly her mind strayed to God's Word.

She remembered the scripture that says,  "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:3,4).

Immediately, a deep thought struck her mind, "if God will not sleep and slumber watching over me and this land, why should I be running helter skelter for safety.
Why should God be awake watching over me and I will not be able to sleep for fear?"

"Oh no!" She simply turned over her blanket and tried sleeping.

While she was trying to engage sleep with her body and mind, fear came knocking and saying, "don't deceive yourself laying here like there is nothing. Can't you hear the gunshots, the bombing sounds, the foot snaps of runnings and the laments and cries in the community? Hmmm, you better try escaping before they catch up with you and waste you in death"- Who said? FearπŸ‘Ή.

She spoke out to fear, trying to bury the voice of confusion, "hold it! one thing I am dead sure of is that God's Word is True, Real and Never fails!"

She recited confidently from the Psalms- Psalms 91,

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under                    the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him                      will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the                        noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou                        trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
                 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that                        flieth by day;

More so, "for God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy  1:7). This time her FAITH swelled, her FEAR filtered away, she despised the voice of fear and covered herself up in her blanket that cold night, ignoring the fearful sounds of destructions, meditated on those words from the Bible and quietly slept off.

What next, she woke up to a peaceful and calm morning the next day. Concerned and worried about her neighbours and friends who had ran for safety like they all always did before the previous night, she simply prayed for their preservation and safe return.

She was waiting for them while they were busy looking in search of her with pitiful sympathy.

After they all heard of her experience that night, they keep looking at her with surprise and amazement, one of them said, "Mama-Joy, so you slept with the comfort of your bed last night while we hustle around for safety and survival under fear, isn't this amazing!πŸ€”

Dear friend, Your FAITH in God's Word will filter your fears.
Don't you know, many in search for safety and survival had lost their lives in the process?

Beloved, the reason why you are afraid and fearful is because you lack FAITH in the personality and ability of God. You must have read or heard this, "...If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans  8:31).

Fear will only  torment you when God is not on your side. No wonder, "...Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God" (Mark  11:22).

I will not conclude until I drop this,
Jesus was conscious of the power of Faith against Fears and impossibilities that was why He said even to His disciples "have FAITH in God".

You know what? My friend, Jesus Christ is your only access to Faith in God, when you have Christ has your Lord and saviour, He gives you the strength of FAITH that filters your fears. Surrender to Jesus today and despise the voices of fear.

Stay Strong and Fearless, don't also forget you are not just a conqueror but more than a conqueror.

Kindly share!
